Withdrawal information for tool rentals
A statutory consumer withdrawal right generally arises only where a consumer rents at a distance from a trader owner. The owner status shown in the listing and the contract-specific notice before booking are decisive.
Rental from a private owner
A rental contract between two private persons generally does not carry a statutory consumer withdrawal right. Tiggy’s voluntary free cancellation until confirmed pickup nevertheless applies under the cancellation policy.
Rental from a trader owner
Where a consumer concludes a distance rental contract through Tiggy with an owner acting as a trader, a fourteen-day withdrawal right generally applies unless a statutory exception applies. The contracting party and addressee of the withdrawal is the trader owner identified in the listing and booking confirmation. Their name, address and email and the specific withdrawal notice must be provided before contract formation and in the booking confirmation.
Withdrawal period
The period is generally fourteen days from conclusion of the contract, but does not begin before the consumer has been properly informed about the withdrawal right. Timely dispatch of an unequivocal withdrawal statement is sufficient. No reason is required.
Exercising withdrawal
Withdrawal must be addressed to the trader owner identified in the listing and booking confirmation. It may additionally be sent with the booking ID to support@tiggy.eu. Tiggy acknowledges receipt and forwards it promptly to the owner; this does not make Tiggy the contracting party.
Effects of withdrawal
Following effective withdrawal, benefits received must generally be returned no later than fourteen days. Payments are generally refunded using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. The tool must be returned promptly in the agreed condition. The consumer is liable for diminished value only where it results from handling beyond what was necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the tool and the statutory conditions are met.
Rental beginning during the withdrawal period
If the rental is to begin before the withdrawal period expires, the trader owner must document the consumer’s legally required express request on a durable medium. On a later withdrawal, a proportionate amount for performance properly supplied until then may be charged only where the statutory information and request requirements have been met. General acceptance of terms or pickup of the tool alone does not replace this separate statement.
Voluntary Tiggy cancellation
Regardless of any statutory withdrawal right, every tool rental can be cancelled without charge until confirmed pickup under the Tiggy cancellation policy. Any collected rental payment and platform fee are refunded in full to the original payment method. Mandatory rights are not reduced.

If you wish to withdraw from the contract, you may use the following text: To [name, address and email of the trader owner]: I hereby withdraw from the contract concluded by me for rental of the following tool: [tool, booking ID]. Contract concluded on: [date]. Consumer name: [name]. Consumer address: [address]. Date: [date]. Signature only if submitted on paper.
